There are some exciting times afoot for us here at InBond from our Warehousing & Logistics Centre in the heart of the Tees Valley – North East England. Now established for 20 years and well known market leaders in the delivery of specialist Warehousing & Document Management Systems, InBond has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years. A management buyout in 2014, coupled with a move of premises to our current Northshore site (with easy access to the A66/A1 & A19) has seen the company go from strength to strength.
During this time full time employees have increased by 56%; a further £1.3m has been invested in our Warehouse Management System (since it was originally installed); and turnover is up by a staggering 92%. Not ones to rest on their laurels either, Directors Phil Lyons and Craig Rye grasped the opportunity towards the end of 2017 when further warehousing space became available at our Northshore site. This commitment has increased our capacity by 109% – very good news for companies currently on the look-out to outsource their warehousing and logistics requirements. Asked whether they will be satisfied when this increased pallet space is filled, the response was typically nonchalant: ‘Of course, yes, but there will then be further growth plans afoot’.
Servicing clients from throughout the UK, Europe (and less commonly) rest of the World – we are very fortunate to hold contracts with such a diverse range of clients which, admittedly, is no accident given the diverse range of services offered: General & Bonded Warehousing; Document Management; Electronic Document Management; Product Enhancement; Freight Forwarding; and Transport. As a result, our risk is spread and we feel confident going forwards into what is undeniably going to be a tough time when you traditionally consider Teesside’s strong exporting links to Europe.
A trend that we cannot fail to have noticed over the last year is the rise of specialty Spirits and, in particular, Gin! Our Bonded Warehouse is packed full of delicious Gins and it will come as no surprise that the accompanying tonics and mixers are also out in force. Often with large marketing budgets to play with, for us as a company, these businesses are particularly fun additions for us to engage with as we continually push to further our social media presence and brand awareness.
The diversity of all of our stock holding is what makes working at InBond so varied and enjoyable, especially as you get to know the busy periods for certain product ranges. For example, we work with Typhoon International the world’s largest manufacturer of drysuits and, unsurprisingly, the winter period has not been all that busy with their products, yet now – despite the copious amount of snow flying around, orders for this account are really starting to fly! This is in the same week that we have taken delivery of our first Redland Tiles: a very new contract that we are immensely proud to have won which further represents our diverse client range. It is also a credit to the entire team here at InBond that we are able to adapt and service a range of clients, often with unusual requests, in a timely manner and with the excellent customer service promised at the outset.
